About Me

From the family doctor Bay to the Foot of the Cross

Dr. Geoffrey L. Phelan

My journey to writing The Joy of the Cross began not in a seminary but in the chaotic emergency rooms where life and death collided daily. I have witnessed the brutal reality of human suffering—the broken bodies, the desperate cries, the fragile line between survival and surrender.

Then came the night that changed everything!

Why would a perfect Savior feel abandoned? That moment launched a decade-long quest—poring over ancient texts, studying crucifixion mechanics, and consulting theologians—to uncover what really happened on Calvary.

What emerged was revolutionary: The cross wasn’t just spiritual symbolism. It was a medical fact—a carefully designed sacrifice where every wound fulfilled prophecy.

Christ’s cry? Not despair, but victory in code—quoting Psalm 22 to declare: “This is the moment everything changes.”

My mission is to prove that faith and science don’t contradict—they collide at the cross.

DR GEOFFREY PHELAN is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He has been in the private practice of Family Medicine in Southern California for more than 30 years. He and Donna, his wife of 34 years, live in Southern California, and have five grown children.

Mission

My mission is to bridge the gap between faith and science, helping others understand the real, redeeming suffering of Christ through Scripture, medical truth, and compassionate insight.

Vision

I envision a world where believers embrace the full depth of Christ’s sacrifice—not as myth, but as a lived reality that transforms hearts, minds, and how we face suffering.

Motto

Where there is pain, there is purpose. Where there is blood, there is redemption. And through the Cross, there is everlasting joy.
